The Sabah Chief Minister said that unless Misuari could come up with proof, he should not simply throw around allegations that Malaysians were involved the kidnapping of foreign nationals in 2000.
Datuk Musa Aman said: “This is a serious allegation. Misuari should name the individual who he alleged was involved in the kidnapping.”
Musa, who is also state security council chairman said in a statement late Friday. That such unfounded claims could tarnish the image of the country and state as well as strain the relations between Malaysia and Philippines.
Musa also said instead of taking the combative approach, Misuari should exercise better diplomacy and seek for stability in his area and peace with his neighbours.
Musa was commenting on the rebel leader’s claim that Malaysia was behind the kidnap-for-ransom activities in Sulu, singling out the Sipadan kidnappings in 2000 that the Philippines had blamed the Abu Sayyaf Group.
Among others Misuari claimed that Malaysia hired his “own people” and “offered them millions” to carry out the kidnappings.
